Address Analysis System
(LocateIt® System):
Telecommunications Industry
Here are just a few of the many ways in which the LocateIt System can help telecommunications companies:
- Calculate Competitive Rates
- Lower Network Connection Costs
- Access Up-to-Date Address Information
- Ensure Compliance with Local Tax Laws

Calculate Competitive Rates As an Account Executive, Nicole is responsible for quoting the best possible rates to clients interested in purchasing data services that include a mileage rate element. Nicole turns to the LocateIt System to confirm the customer's service address and obtain its V&H coordinates (see example). Then she enters the NPA-NXX or CLLI code of the serving central office in order to calculate the air-mile distance between it and the customer's site (see example). |

Lower Network Connection Costs Tom's telecom company will soon be expanding the service area in which it can offer cellular coverage. The cost of establishing connections to wireline networks will be based in part on the distance between the firm's proposed antenna sites (see example) and the mobile telephone switching offices, or MTSOs (see example). To maintain the lowest possible connection costs, Tom will rely on the LocateIt System to identify the MTSO that is closest to each of the new antenna locations. |

Access Up-to-Date Address Information One of Jane's clients is dividing the country into Eastern, Central and Western customer-service regions. Depending on the type of query, calls to primary service centers may be forwarded to secondary service centers nearer to the calling customer. The assignment of calls to secondary service centers will be determined by the county and ZIP code of the calling NPA-NXX (see example). Jane knows that NPAs and NXXs change frequently, so she intends to rely on the LocateIt System for current information that will allow her to identify the county and ZIP code of the switch for each NPA and NXX. |

Ensure Compliance with Local Tax Laws The Corporate Sales Tax department of Jason's telecom company must be able to easily and accurately determine whether state, county, and/or city sales tax should be applied to a customer's bill. Jason relies on the LocateIt System to identify the county in which the customer is based (see example) and determine whether the street address is legally within the city limits of the municipality named in the customer's mailing address (see example). Jason's team will also satisfy various system and scheduling requirements by designing a program that combines online batch processing with a customized API interface to the LocateIt System. |
