Q: What exactly is a COMMON LANGUAGE Location Code (CLLI Code)?
A: A CLLI code is an 11-character standardized geographic identifier that uniquely identifies the geographic location of places and certain functional categories of equipment unique to the telecommunications industry.
All valid CLLI codes are created, updated and maintained in the Central Location Online Entry System (CLONES) database. For additional information, see our CLLI code general description and technical description pages.
Q: How do I gain access to CLLI codes?
A: CLLI codes are maintained in the extremely flexible, highly sophisticated COMMON LANGUAGE Central Location Online Entry System (CLONES) database. For additional information on this secure centralized data repository, see our CLONES database page.
Q: How do I gain access to the CLONES database?
A: A special login, password and SecurID card are required in order to create, delete or update CLLI codes residing in the CLONES database.
Licensees may call the Customer Support Center at (877) 699-5577 (International Customers call: +1 (732) 699-5577) to obtain document CC-OC6, "Industry Client Computer Services Access Request Form," or document BD-LS/CLONES-LSP-1, "CLONES User Guide, CLLI Code Set, CLLI Code Reports" for instructions on accessing, updating, storing and extracting CLLI codes to the master file.

A: CLLI codes are used worldwide to identify and describe network sites, network support sites, network entities and customer sites. For additional information, see our CLLI Code Technical Description page.
Q: What exactly are geographical and geopolitical codes?
A: A CLLI code conforms to one of three basic formats, each of which makes use of geographical and geopolitical codes. The former are typically assigned to cities, towns, suburbs, villages, hamlets, military installations and international airports, but can also be mapped to mountains, bodies of water and satellites in fixed-earth orbit.

A: Licensees are welcome to submit their coding requests to the COMMON LANGUAGE Products Customer Support Center, 8 Corporate Place, PY3 3B172, Piscataway, NJ 08854, or fax them to (732) 336-2778.
Q: How do non-licensees request new CLLI codes?
A: As CLLI code set maintenance agent for the American National Standard Institute (ANSI), we also administer non-licensees’ requests. These should be directed to the COMMON LANGUAGE Products Customer Support Center, 8 Corporate Place, PY3 3B172, Piscataway, NJ 08854.

CLLI codes are the most widely used code set in COMMON LANGUAGE Network Identification, a product line that also includes COMMON LANGUAGE Facility Codes (CLFI Codes), COMMON LANGUAGE Message Trunk Circuit Codes (CLCI MSG Codes) and COMMON LANGUAGE Special Service Circuit Codes (CLCI S/S Codes), COMMON LANGUAGE Network Channel and Channel Interface Codes (NC/NCI Codes) and COMMON LANGUAGE General Codes.
